12 x 12 as per the terminology they use for upgrades
Upgrades are:
14 x 14 –> 8 neighbors and 10k
16 x 16 –> 10 neighbors and 25k
18 x 18 –> 13 neighbors and 50k
20 x 20 –> 16 neighbors and 75k
What this means is you can fit in 12×12 (or 144) of the plowed squares with a 1/2 square wide run on the top (for trees and animals to squeeze in) if you plow all the space you can. Each upgrade adds room for 2 more rows of plowed squares on the bottom.
Just FYI, you can fit 16 small animals or trees in the space of one plowed square.

You start with 14×14 farm and can purchase more if you get higher experience and a lot of coins.
